TT/XT 500 MUSTER '07

DAY 1
For the 6th running of the Muster, a date change and a location change was in order. It proved to be a great idea as the first weekend in February was a scorcher with temperatures hovering around the 40°C. We moved the date to the 15th/16th September which was much better for the road ride and our first dirt ride. We based this year’s Muster at the Bethany Reserve just outside Tanunda which also proved to be a good idea as Sunday it decided to rain which the Valley needed.

DIRT RIDE
Shane Kraft took care of the dirt ride which was held at the local junior Moto Cross Track, with 9 Muster riders taking part as well as other classes for junior and modern bikes being catered for.
The day started around 10am and went until 3.30pm working on a rotation system with all classes getting a fair go on the track. This unfortunately may be the last time the track gets used as a main road now goes past here and the land owner wishes to get it back to a more natural look. If we are to run a dirt ride next year, we will need to find a new location and a little more support to make it  worth while. Having said that, this was only the 1st year we tried this so getting the 9 riders was great.

ROAD RIDE

The road ride started at the Bethany Reserve at 10.30am lead by Kevin Steinert, the ride went through Tanunda and off to Lyndoch and then the Barossa Reservoir where we had our 1st scheduled stop. After leaving here, we took a few winding roads through Williamstown and Kersbrook to end up in Gumeracha at the 'Big Rocking Horse' for lunch. Everyone had a good feed and enjoyed the stop at this location. There was a slight threat of rain but this passed and we then continued.
From here we went through the hills to Lobethal and Lenswood and ended up at Woodside after a few delays along the way, for a fuel stop. A few riders fell behind and turned left instead of right as the lead riders were just over a rise. After a quick chase, we were back together and on our way. The ride continued in through Mt Torrens and towards Tungkilo before turning back towards Birdwood. Here we regrouped before heading of on the final leg. Once we got back to Bethany Reserve, a discussion was held and it was decided that those of us who hadn’t made plans as yet, should go out to tea. The Tanunda club was decided on and those of us, who could make it, had a great time.

DAY 2

Sunday saw a total of 52 bikes turn up for the Show 'n Shine day which turned out to be not one of the nicest days. However the change of venue was proven to be one really good idea. One of the sponsors, Strength Motorcycles, organized a bouncy castle for the youngsters, which was a relief for the parents and the committee.
The venue had plenty of undercover protection with the bikes displayed in front.

The lions Club once again helped us out with the catering which was well supported by everyone present, especially when the rain came down.
